The Lear Jet Stereo 8 cartridge was born in 1963 -- but it took the cars and the bands of the '70s to drive the eight-track tape into a time-honored fad. Sales reached their peak in 1978, thanks to the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, Some Girls, by The Rolling Stones, and 1977's Rumours from Fleetwood Mac. Happy Eight Track Day!
